Learn the basics of designing and building Access tables. Dean explains how to leverage the power of the relational database model, while illustrating the importance of a solid design. He'll explain the different types of table relationships, and the role of each. Lastly, the table analyzer wizard will be demonstrated by splitting data from a single Excel spreadsheet into multiple Access tables. INTERMEDIATE ***************************************************************** Access Trauma Center -- 4:00 PM - 5:00 PM Presented by: John Giuliano of Stone-Crowne Associates We'll spend an hour helping to debug, add enhancements, or make design recommendations. The audience is encouraged to bring in real world developer problems that need solving now. Bring your applications on flash drive, CD, or laptop. DEVELOPER ***************************************************************** Introduction To SQL Server -- 5:00 PM - 6:15 PM Presented by: John Giuliano of Stone-Crowne Associates In this session, we will work exclusively with SQL Server 2005 and the tools that are available to manage it. The focus of this series is to enable Access developers to design client-server applications using Access as the user interface. ***************************************************************** General Announcements and Forum -- 6:15 PM - 6:30 PM Presented by: Dean Serrentino of Paradigm Information Systems, Inc. Share information regarding upcoming events, Access bugs, add-on products, and anything else that affects the world of the Access developer. ***************************************************************** SQL Server Security for Access Developers -- 6:30 PM - 8:30 PM Presented by: Robert Holmes For years now, Access developers have been complaining that Microsoft wants to get rid of Access. With the large investment that they have made in Access 2007, it's clear the strategy is to use it as a means to push SQL Server and SharePoint. On the SQL Server side, there are a couple of significant paradigm shifts, one of which is in the area of security. This session will explore what an Access developer needs to master. We will explore issues of user versus Windows authentication, permission levels, and how they differ from Access. Robert will also cover schemas, which existed in previous versions but were not as important. Now, they make assigning security authorization a much more effective and efficient process, by allowing a developer, or administrator, to handle items in a database as a single security unit.
