Date: Tue, 9 Feb 1999 12:13:56 -0500 From: Dan Jacobs Subject: WebTech meeting Tues Feb 16 7pm Hi everybody. I'm writing to remind you about the next WebTech meeting, which will be held on Tuesday, February 16 at 7pm, at the IBM SPC in Waltham. Details and directions are available from our website (see the URL below). This month we will continue with our current focus on server-side Java and Java application servers. The feature presentation this month will be about developing web-based Java applications with Apptivity from Progress Software. The talk will focus on the role of servlets and application servers in distributed web applications, and on how Apptivity addresses such issues as IDE integration, generating Java or HTML clients, JDBC database access, etc. This will be a technical presentation by senior members of the engineering staff, and will include a live demonstration of the Apptivity product. More information on Apptivity is available from Progress Software at http://apptivity.progress.com/java/apptivity/about.htm Once again I invite everyone to gather for supper before the meeting. This is a good opportunity to chat with other people and enjoy some good Thai food. The place is the Green Papaya restaurant on Winter Street in Waltham, and we try to order food at around 5:30. Let me know if you plan to come so I can reserve enough seats. I hope to see you there, ------------------------------ Dan Jacobs, President Tech Tonic Netsystems email: djacobs@ttonic.com Burlington, MA voice: (781) 273-5825, (781) 273-0231 Java Consulting Object-Oriented Software Engineering Chairman Boston ACM WebTech Group: http://www.acm.org/chapters/webtech
