Learn the basics of designing and building Access tables. Dean explains how to leverage the power of the relational database model, while illustrating the importance of a solid design. He'll explain the different types of table relationships, and the role of each. Lastly, the table analyzer wizard will be demonstrated by splitting data from a single Excel spreadsheet into multiple Access tables. INTERMEDIATE ACCESS ***************************************************************** Dynamic SQL -- 1:00 PM - 3:00 PM Presented by: Dean Serrentino of Paradigm Information Systems, Inc. Dean demonstrates the use of Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) code to create queries that can change dynamically. Learn how you can incorporate this functionality into your own applications to create flexible and powerful user forms. ***************************************************************** Access Trauma Center -- 3:00 PM - 5:00 PM Presented by: John Giuliano of Stone-Crowne Associates We'll spend two hours helping to debug, add enhancements, or make design recommendations. The audience is encouraged to bring in real world developer problems that need solving now. Bring your applications on flash drive, CD, or laptop. ACCESS DEVELOPER ***************************************************************** Introduction To SQL Server -- 5:00 PM - 6:00 PM Presented by: John Giuliano of Stone-Crowne Associates In this session, we will work exclusively with SQL Server 2005 and the tools that are available to manage it. The focus of this series is to enable Access developers to design client-server applications using Access as the user interface. ***************************************************************** General Announcements and Forum -- 6:00 PM - 6:30 PM Presented by: John Giuliano of Stone-Crowne Associates Share information regarding upcoming events, Access bugs, add-on products, and anything else that affects the world of the Access developer. ***************************************************************** A MS Access Executive Dashboard -- 6:30 PM - 7:30 PM Presented by: Bruce Holmes Bruce's application is a data-driven Executive Dashboard written entirely in Access. It provides a business manager with a summary display of the key performance indicators of his operation, how each measurement compares to its established goal, and what the trend is. Bruce shows us how the selection and appearance of parameters that get displayed are controlled by the database and generated at run-time. ***************************************************************** Using Temporary Databases With Access Applications -- 7:30 PM - 8:30 PM Presented by: John Giuliano of Stone-Crowne Associates Many developers use temporary tables to store or compile data for processes or creating reports. Some of these are created by Make Table queries. This has the effect of bloating the application or data files, increasing the need for application maintenance. Another consideration is the fact that tables created by Make Table queries are not indexed. In this session we will look at techniques for dynamically creating and maintaining separate 'mdb' files that eliminate these and other issues. News and Announcements...
