From: mmbug_announce@lists.brightworks.com Subject: [MMBUG_Announce] Meeting :: November 9th :: Flash and Data Visualization Date: Mon, 24 Oct 2005 12:37:43 +0000 Who: Doug Marttila What: Flash and Data Visualization When: Wednesday, November 9, 6:00 PM Where: MIT, Building E51 (Tang Center), Room 151 More and more data is available and being visualized everyday. The innovations of Web 2.0 are changing how we think and interact with data. But Web 2.0 has focused primarily on technologies like Ajax and RSS. These technologies are great, but can be visually limiting. Fortunately, Flash can step in where Ajax leaves off, allowing you to create anything from simple bar charts to websites that function like desktop applications. Come see how Flash can be used to visualize data. What are its advantages and disadvantages? What are the design considerations when developing dynamic apps? And finally, how do you code this stuff? Doug Marttila is Lead Developer at Visual i|o (www.visual-io.com), a leading provider of business-focused data visualizations. He is presenting at this year's Macromedia MAX Conference, where he will speak about using Flash for data visualization. ---------------------------------------------- You have received this email because you have subscribed to the MMBUG (Macromedia Boston Users Group) Announcement Mailing list.
